Some of South’s Core Beliefs
- Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
- The Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)
- Every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
- And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
- The promise of eternal life is available to those who believe Christ is the Son of God (John 3:16), repent of sin, confess their faith and be baptized (immersed) into Him for forgiveness of sins and the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). Saved by Grace through Faith!
- Jesus commanded his followers to “go and make disciples (followers) . . . baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit”. In the New Testament Church, those who believed were baptized into the Name of Jesus. Baptism is described in Scripture as a participation in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6). Just as Jesus Christ was raised from the dead to walk in newness of life, those who surrender to Christ are raised from the waters of baptism to live a new life for Jesus their Lord. Baptism is a pledge of a good conscience toward God (1 Peter 3:21). He washes away our sins (Acts 22:12-16).
- The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Matthew 28: 26-28, Ephesians 4:1-16)
- Jesus Christ will one day return to take His Bride (the Church) home and will reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
